Plastic Galaxy: The Story of Star Wars Toys is now up for preorder on iTunes with a release date of Nov. 4.
When Star Wars landed in the theaters, it introduced audiences to a galaxy filled with heroes and villains, robots and space ships, and a dizzying variety of alien life. But when the lights came up, they all disappeared… Unless you had all the toys. In which case, the adventure never had to end. Like no toys before them, Star Wars toys were a phenomenon that swept the nation, permanently transforming both the toy and movie industries, and ultimately creating a hobby that, 30 years later, still holds sway over its fans. Plastic Galaxy is a documentary that explores the groundbreaking and breathtaking world of Star Wars toys. Through interviews with former Kenner employees, experts and authors like Stephen Sansweet and Gus Lopez, and of course collectors, it looks at the toys’ history, their influence, and the fond and fervent feelings they elicit today.
New large-scale Star Wars figures are on the way. The 31″ line sees a new Yoda figure, which is priced at $49.99. The Rebels 20″ line has a Set of Zeb and the Inquisitor at $49.99 or the Inquisitor singly at $29.99. The Classic 20″ line has the Series 02 Set of Greedo, Han and Luke at $84.99 (as well as singles of Luke at $29.99) and Series 03 Set of Bossk and Darth Maul at $54.99.
The final Star Wars themed Figurine set is now available through DisneyStore.com. The Empire Strikes Back set includes: Luke Skywalker (X-wing Pilot), Stormtrooper, R2-D2, Boba Fett, Han Solo in Carbonite and Yoda. This and the other two movie sets are available for $12.95 each

The Yakface Toyguide updates resume with our next entry in the The Black Series 6″ line. Today, we take a look at the Target Exclusive Imperial Shadow Squadron.
PROS: For essentially being a set of “repaints”, this set (for me) seems to be worth the $50 pricepoint. The overall presentation is great with Hasbro foregoing the standard (read “bland”) packaging insert for a nice hangar scene. The figures themselves are nice too as there is a blend of black and dark blue to help separate the armor from the body glove of each trooper. The sparse deco is well done with each application seeming to hit its intended mark.
CONS: The packaging is the egregious offender here as the tray that holds the figures/vehicle causes warping to the Shadow Scout visor and the speeder bike handle bars. Fortunately, these deflections can be easily remedied by submerging the effected parts in hot water for a few minutes. The reissued weapons for each figure leave something to be desired as they are cast in a simple gray plastic with no paint apps which ultimately feels cheap. Shadow repaints, already?

In case you missed it in our recent article, Target is “planning” on offering their exclusive Star Wars Rebels TIE Advanced Prototype with Inquisitor figure next month. No mention of the other two exclusives (The Phantom with Kanan, AT-DP with AT-DP Driver) in the ad, but one might assume that these are all case mates and will arrive at the same time.
