Hasbro Fining Stores for Breaking Street Date?
July 27, 2010 | 2:50 PM CST | Jayson

Here is an interesting story from frequent e-mailer EvilAniimation:

i decide to to Target at lunch and I found the entire wave of new Star Wars including vehicles and Clone Wars, and I noticed a lady that had a Hasbro name tag looking and scanning the figures. So I kinda hung around deciding if I need a couple of doubles like the AT-AT commander and cloud car pilot. I overhear her on her phone calling someone and then she gives the zip code of the store and store number and starts talking about a fine of $200 saying this stuff should not be out tell August 3rd. She then says that the manager is not there but she has already informed the supervisor and they are aware.

She also said that the new Transformers were out so they could be dinged on that as well. So I quickly grabed the figures I wanted and head to the front because I could hear talking about having someone from electronic come over and pull these off the shelf.

I think that $200 fine is per offending item and not a one time fee so if true, stores are looking at some serious infractions for setting the new goods early.

Share your thoughts on this in the forums.

Episode 255: SDCC Wrap Up
July 27, 2010 | 8:29 AM CST | Jayson

This past weekend ComicCon International in San Diego made news from announcements of the cast of the new Avengers film to someone being stabbed in the face over a seating dispute. However, Star Wars news has remained mostly under the radar, overshadowed by the looming Star Wars Celebration 5 just two short weeks away. But despite the lack of focus, SDCC held lots of information for Star Wars collectors, from panels to the exhibit room floor.

On this second part of Star Wars Action News' SDCC 2010 Coverage, Marjorie and Arnie review all the panels and floor offerings, including the new Family Guy Star Wars spoof, the book Star Wars Year by Year, and product previews from Sideshow, Gentle Giant, Super 7, Acme Archives, Her Universe, Kotobukiya, Lego, Museum Replicas, Hallmark, and even more! Plus the hosts have THREE EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS in this podcast, with Hasbro's Darryl DePriest, head of the Star Wars toy line, as well as representatives of Hallmark discussing their new collectibles and ornaments, and Gentle Giant talking about the 12" figures, other product offerings, and Slave Leias.

And after you listen to this week's Star Wars Action News, be sure to stop by the web site at swactionnews.com to view their photo galleries of all the items discussed!

You can download this week's show here or use the direct links: Part 1 or Part 2

SDCC News from the Floor: Hasbro
July 23, 2010 | 6:10 PM CST | Jayson

We're just got off of a short QnA with the fine folks at Hasbro in order to clear up a few inquiries we've had regarding all the news from SDCC.

UGH Vintage Collection Variants:
There has been rumblings that there are UGH specific paint variants for the some of the foil card back "chase" figures this year. Some were wondering about Anakin Skywalker specifically as the face/head sculpt seems quite different in terms of paint and expression.

Answer: Hasbro has clarified this and there will be NO paint variants. Anakin on both the standard and UGH will both feature the same sculpt/deco both with the "Sith eyes" treatment.

Luke Skywalker - Jedi Knight Card Back Portrait
People have questioned exactly which cardback portrait will be used for the new Jedi Luke.

Answer: Hasbro has confirmed that they made a huge error in this regard as this figure is intended to represent the "Endor Surrender" scene in Return of the Jedi, but the design used the wrong art when designing the card and it will depict his appearance from Jabba's Palace - just like the 1983 Kenner version.

Senate Commandos Removable Helmets?
Some have wondered if the helmets on the new Senate Commando/Captain Jayfon are removeable.

Answer: No they are not.

Wicket and the Interchangeable Hood
Some folks wonder what the new Wicket looks like with the alternate hood.

Answer: For the answer, head to Facebook.

New Product at Walmart.com
July 23, 2010 | 3:36 PM CST | Jayson

Not only does Walmart.com have some of the new Star Wars item in stock, but they are listing the new Legends figures for $4.50. Could this be good news that Wal-Mart will continue to keep basic figures (outside of vintage) at a great price once these hit stores? We should know pretty soon!
